The Project
The OALO Project
OALO: Off-blocks · Airborne · Landing · On-blocks
Every pilot shares one requirement: logging their flight hours. With the world ever more digital, and so little data needed to store flight hours safely, The OALO Project was created by a small group of airline pilots to give pilots a compliant, secure and convenient way to log their flights.
It’s also building something bigger: a community of professional pilots that gives its members much more than a logbook.
We’re starting in the UK and expanding as we grow, across Europe and beyond.
More than a logbook
Our working lives don’t fit the usual pattern, and much of what pilots need is hard to find, hard to judge, or priced for someone else. As the community grows, OALO will bring members access to services that make professional pilot life easier to navigate when we’re not working, and give new pilots a sense of direction:
- Relevant services: crew accommodation, simulator and renewal bookings, medical examiners and training providers that understand our rosters.
- Professional advice: mortgages, pensions, tax and protection from advisers who specialise in pilots, through properly authorised firms.
- Equipment: headsets, flight bags and EFB kit at member prices.
- Discounts and holidays: travel and time off, chosen for people who work weekends, nights and Christmas.
- Direction for new pilots: career steps, type-rating funding and honest guidance from those who’ve done it.
It’s included in the price of OALO Pro (£35 a year), with nothing extra to pay to join in. It’s opt-in: you choose whether to hear about any of it, and you can change your mind in Settings at any time. If you only want the logbook, that’s all you get: nothing else is required. Your logbook data is never shared with anyone offering a service.
How it fits together
-
Live now
A compliant logbook
Secure and convenient, in your authority’s format, filled from your airline’s emails.
-
Growing
A community of professional pilots
Every pilot who joins makes it stronger: more airlines read automatically and more commanders a tap away to countersign.
-
Over time
Working life made easier
As the community grows, members will be able to access relevant discounts, advice and accommodation. Only if you choose to.
The more pilots join, the better it gets.
Your data stays yours
- Your logbook is always your property, and you stay in full control of it.
- It’s stored securely and backed up, and you can back it up or export it yourself at any time.
- Every entry is checked for compliance, and data issues are flagged for you to fix.
- OALO keeps only what compliance requires, plus anything you choose to add. No delay reasons, fuel quantities, passenger numbers or other company data.
- Your data is never given to third parties.
What’s live
- Logbooks in the EASA and UK CAA formats, printed like the paper book
- Works on any device: a web app for iPhone, Android, iPad, Mac and Windows, with nothing to install (add it to your home screen)
- Flight data emails and logbook files from many airlines worldwide. If yours isn’t read yet, forward one example: we keep it for review (fuel, passenger, delay and remarks removed, deleted within 60 days), check it’s compliant, and add your airline
- Imports from LogTen Pro, mccPILOTLOG, Swift, Logger and any spreadsheet
- Night time worked out from the sun along your route
- PICUS countersigning, recency per type and renewal reminders
Be part of it
- Forward your airline’s flight emails, even if your airline isn’t supported yet: that’s how new airlines are added.
- Invite the pilots you fly with.
- Tell us how your logbook works for you, from Help in the menu.
