Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the OALO digital pilot logbook service ("Service") operated by OALO ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.

1. Description of Service

OALO provides a digital pilot logbook service that allows pilots to:

  • Record and store flight data
  • Import flights from verified airline emails
  • Generate EASA and UK CAA compliant logbook exports
  • Track flight hours and experience

2. Account Registration

To use our Service, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

3. Free Account (OALO)

Important: By signing up for a free OALO account, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Your compliant logbook data will be stored on our servers
  • Features may be added, modified, or removed from the free version at any time at our sole discretion
  • We reserve the right to introduce charges for the free service in the future with reasonable notice
  • You will always be able to export your data before any changes take effect
  • Service availability is provided on an "as is" basis without guarantees of uptime

4. OALO+ Subscription

Launch Phase Notice: OALO+ may be offered free on a limited basis during our launch phase. Once OALO+ is officially launched, it will become a paid subscription service. Users who received free access during the launch phase will be notified before any charges apply and will have the option to continue with the free tier.

OALO+ subscription terms:

  • Subscription fees are billed annually in advance
  • Prices may change with 30 days' notice
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
  • No refunds for partial subscription periods
  • Upon cancellation, you retain access to all free tier features

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes
  • Provide accurate flight data
  • Not share your account credentials
  • Not attempt to circumvent security measures
  • Not use the Service to store or transmit malicious code
  • Not misuse any airline data or systems

6. Airline Data and Company Information

Important: OALO does not store sensitive airline operational data. We only store flight times, airports, aircraft registrations, and crew information necessary for a compliant pilot logbook. We do not store fuel figures, passenger numbers, delay information, or any commercially sensitive airline data.

You acknowledge that:

  • You are responsible for ensuring your use of OALO complies with your employer's policies
  • OALO is not affiliated with any airline
  • We cannot accept responsibility for any misuse of company data by users
  • You must not upload or store any data that violates your employment contract or confidentiality obligations

7. Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • AES-256 encryption for sensitive data
  • Secure HTTPS connections
  • Regular security updates
  • Access controls and authentication

Limitation of Liability: Whilst OALO makes every reasonable effort to keep your data secure, we cannot accept responsibility for:

  • Data loss due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control
  • Unauthorised access resulting from user negligence (e.g., sharing passwords)
  • Data breaches caused by sophisticated cyber attacks despite our security measures
  • Service interruptions due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues

We strongly recommend that you regularly export and backup your logbook data.

8. Data Export and Portability

You may export your complete flight data at any time in CSV or PDF format. This right applies to both free and paid accounts. We will provide at least 30 days' notice before any service termination to allow data export.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and content, is owned by OALO and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of your flight data. By using the Service, you grant us a licence to store and process your data to provide the Service.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Accuracy or completeness of flight calculations
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Compatibility with regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions

You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of your logbook data and ensuring it meets your regulatory authority's requirements.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OALO shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
  • Damages arising from your use or inability to use the Service
  • Any amount exceeding the fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless OALO from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Any misuse of airline or employer data

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Abuse the Service or other users

You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days unless retention is required by law.

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
