Information for Authorities

Our compliance process and how OALO meets regulatory requirements for pilot logbooks.

Regulatory Compliance

OALO is designed to meet all requirements of EASA Part-FCL (FCL.050) and UK CAA regulations for pilot personal flight time records.

EASA FCL.050 Compliance

Our digital logbook system complies with EASA Part-FCL requirements for recording flight time:

FCL.050 Recording of flight time
The pilot shall maintain a reliable record of the details of all flights flown, in a form and manner established by the competent authority.

OALO provides:

  • All required columns as specified in AMC1 FCL.050
  • Accurate time recording in UTC
  • Proper categorisation of flight time (PIC, SIC, PICUS, Dual, etc.)
  • Night time calculation based on official civil twilight
  • Running totals and page summaries
  • Countersignature capability for PICUS flights
  • Export to official EASA format PDF

UK CAA Compliance

For UK licence holders, OALO meets the requirements set out by the UK CAA for personal flying logbooks, including:

  • Recording of all flights as required by ANO
  • Proper documentation of flight time categories
  • Support for countersigning requirements
  • Export formats suitable for licence applications and renewals

Data Integrity

We maintain data integrity through:

  • Audit trails - All changes to flight records are logged
  • Immutable records - Confirmed flights cannot be silently modified
  • Amendment tracking - Any corrections are recorded with timestamps
  • Export verification - Exported PDFs include verification checksums
  • Backup systems - Regular automated backups ensure data preservation

Verification Process

When pilots import flights via email:

  • Flights are marked as "Pending Review" until the pilot confirms accuracy
  • Pilots must verify and approve each flight before it's added to their logbook
  • The original import source is recorded for reference
  • Pilots can add remarks and corrections as needed

GDPR & Data Protection

OALO is fully GDPR compliant:

  • Data is processed lawfully with user consent
  • Users can access, export, or delete their data at any time
  • Data is stored securely within the EU/UK
  • We maintain appropriate technical and organisational measures
  • Privacy policy clearly explains data handling
